About Bladon Springs State Park
The park in southwest Alabama, Choctaw County, is located near four mineral springs. It offers a variety of hiking, camping, fishing and hiking trails, as well as scenic views of the Mississippi and Tennessee River.
Opened in 1838 as a spa, guests came from all over the country to enjoy the natural beauty of the mineral springs and their mineral waters. The bath, nicknamed "Saratoga South," remained open until it was closed at the turn of the century, when the novelty of minerals and springs died out and the property was acquired by the state in 1934. A large Greek Revival Manor, which can accommodate up to 200 people, was built to make it accessible to the public.
The park has a modern campsite with 10 campsites, and there is no campsite for rent, but there are showers and toilets available. Each pitch has its own toilet, shower, fireplace and other amenities, as well as access to a picnic area and picnic tables.
Three group gazebos can be rented for $25 and reserved at the park office, and picnic tables and barbecues are available. First - come, first - served, one - night - only camping with picnic table and access to picnic and barbecue area.
