About D. L. Bliss State Park

The size and location of the park are largely due to the mining process that created the Sierra Nevada. The lake can be enjoyed in autumn and winter, while the lake can be enjoyed in summer and autumn, best in the spring and summer months.

In 1929, the Bliss family donated 744 acres to the State Park System, and the park was named after him and his wife.

The campsites are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm depending on weather conditions, but closed in winter. Summer temperatures range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, with highs of 90 degrees.

Robust feed cabinets are available at all campsites, and at each campsite there is a robust feed cabinets and a pantry in the parking lot.

All food, drinks and toilets must be stored in the lockers provided by law. The internal dimensions of the food sluice are the internal dimension of your food and the food sluice as well as the size and shape of all food containers.

Balancing Rock, a ton of granite perched precariously on a slender stone base, has long been a natural attraction on the west bank of Lake Tahoe. Today, the Balancing Rock is part of the self-guided nature trail of the D.L. Bliss State Park, and while you photograph this geological wonder, enjoy a s'more.

At the beginning of the trail, visitors can pick up a brochure and 19 numbered signs where they can pause and learn about the history of Balancing Rock and what is to be found in the park. The rock itself weighs about 130 tons and is now balanced on the rock below, but when enough material eroded to upset the balance between the two pedestals, the precarious remains of the granite began to decompose.
