The park borders the two cities of Yankeetown and Homosassa and visitors can hike and study native animals and plants. Paddlers can explore the park from the water in kayaks and canoes, or fishermen can take a short walk to the river for a relaxing afternoon fishing.

Nature lovers and photographers will love Crystal River Preserve State Park, where everything from bald eagles to forest storks is located in this protected area. In 1968, the state government created the first national park in the United States, the Crystal River Preserves. The state began identifying and protecting flooded areas, and the hotel is located west of US-19 on the Crystal River.

As knowledge of ecological processes has grown, it has become clear that water protection areas cannot protect water quality if they are not protected, and that water quality can only be protected by protecting the surrounding water catchments. Later, the Big Bend Seagrass Meadows and the Great Bend National Wildlife Refuge were added to the Crystal River Preserve State Park area and several other national parks.

In the mid to late 1970s, the state began buying up land on St. Martin Moor. This area was originally designated as a buffer zone for the Crystal River State and was declared a Crystal River Protected Area on 1 January 2004. The total area now covers about 30,000 hectares, with plots stretching from Yankeetown to Homosassa Springs and parts of Big Bend Seagrass Meadows.

The Visitor Centre houses a 6-storey diorama of the park's habitats. Other exhibits include the Crystal River State Park Museum, the Natural History Museum of Texas and the State Museum.

A conference room is used for presentations and once a month films, and the films are free for the public. Crystal River Preserve State Park Museum houses a number of meeting rooms and a conference room with conference tables, which is used as a film screening once a month.

Inside the visitor centre there is a show garden with a pond and waterfall, and a jetty in the crystal clear river. The jetty has several tables and benches where visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery and picnic on the beach.

The Old River People program is offered weekly, a one-hour tour allowing participants to tour the wetlands along the coast and learn how it and its estuaries served the pre-Columbian population that lived here. The ship Monroe with 26 passengers was one of the first ships to dock in the Crystal River Preserve in the 19th century.

You can reach Crystal Cove, locally known as Mullet Hole, by taking the first entrance on the left until you reach the main gate on Sailboat Avenue. The area has toilets, picnic areas and drinking water, and the fishing area extends across a system of canals that eventually opened up to the Crystal River. Paddle through the nature reserve and enjoy the exceptional beauty of nature, or hike or cycle along the coast for a day of hiking or cycling.

The entrance to Redfish Hole is located to the left of Fort Island Trail at Milestone and about one mile from the entrance is the fishing area. The area is an old pit affected by the flood, and there are toilets, picnic areas and drinking water.

In the area there are toilets and drinking water, as well as a picnic area for wintering, fishing and other activities such as picnicking.

The Eco-Walk Trail is one of the most popular trails in Crystal River Preserve State Park and offers a number of 11 discovery areas that offer a variety of activities to sensitize your senses while improving your outdoor skills. The trail starts in the wet prairie and leads through a swamp, past hammocks, through the forest and then back to the hiking trail.

The Eco-Walk Trail is located on the east side of Crystal River Preserve State Park, just off the main entrance to the park.

This trail is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail and the access points to the Dixie Shores Trails are located in the Dixie Shores subdivision of Ft. The Lake Loop Trail is located just off the main entrance to Crystal River Preserve State Park, south of Lake Drive in Fort Lauderdale. Island Trail is located north of Interstate 95 off I-95, near the freeway and east of Crystal Lake Road.

The trail is about a mile long and winds through three man-made lakes and takeaways in coastal scrubland and salt marshes to a hammock island. The hammocks and path are on the left side of Dixie Shores Drive and are approximately one mile away.

The Boardwalk Trail is 2.2 km long and completely barrier-free - and about 1 / 3 km long from the parking lot at Dixie Shores Drive to the Boardwalk Trailhead.

Habitat restoration is underway to promote the return of native species such as the Mesic hammock tree and the pine. The old pine forest is slowly beginning to become Mesoamerican hammocks, and the restoration of the habitat of the ancient pine trees in this area is underway.

The Past Trail is over a mile long and winds its way through the Boardwalk Trail, and a late, elevated promenade extension leads visitors from the Sawgrass Swamp to Hammock Island.

From this path, you can see Florida's karst limestone topography, which shows the unique geological features that characterize the area where the spring begins and ends. The Crystal River Mall and US Highway are the main access points to the promenade and the park's pathway system.

The main road is Curtis Tool Road, which is bounded by 19 north of the Crystal River and 19 south of Hammock Island. Main access to the boardwalk and pathway system of the park is from the main entrance at the southern end of US Highway 19.

The bike path is a 9-mile loop that leads from the park's main entrance at the southern end of US Highway 19. It is a route for experienced cyclists and hikers and offers a picturesque view of the Crystal River and its tributaries, as well as the coast of Hammock Island.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Crystal River Preserve State Park, but must always be on a leash and not be left unattended for more than an hour.

The visitor center is located at 3266 North Sailboat Ave., and the 3.4 miles to the parking lot of Crystal River Preserve State Park at the southern end of the park.

Take US Highway 19 North, just past Seven Rivers Hospital, turn left from Days Inn onto State Park Drive, follow to the end on Crystal River. Turn right into the parking lot at the park entrance and then right again into the entrance of the parking lot of the State Park.

At the top of the Eco-Walk trail is the intersection of Curtis Tool and Tallahassee Road. Turn left onto Curtis Road and right onto Tallulah Road, turn left into the parking lot at the park entrance and then right again onto State Park Drive.
