The nature trails are animal friendly and offer visitors access to a variety of wildlife habitats and a number of waterfalls. Camping at Henderson Beach State Park is best combined with the 60 campsites along the dune system.
All accommodations have air-conditioned bathrooms, picnic tables, showers and a variety of amenities. Henderson Beach is wheelchair accessible and has a beach suitable for wheelchairs, as well as access to a number of waterfalls and picnic areas. All campsites have amenities such as showers and air conditioning.
Visitors can enjoy stunning sunsets and relax in the shade of the beautiful beaches and waterfalls of Henderson Beach State Park.
Bird watchers can observe waders, coastal and migratory birds in spring and autumn, as well as birds of prey. Smaller reptiles and other animals can also be seen on the beach, such as sea turtles, sand hill cranes, sea lions, pelicans, dolphins, turtles and even sea otters. The park is located east of Destin on US 98th Street and west of Henderson City, south of Interstate 10.
The park, named after its previous owner, was bought by the Henderson family in 1983 and opened to the public on March 29, 1991. It is part of a land conservation program initiated by Governor Bob Graham in 1981 and the first national park in Florida.
The Henderson family wanted the land to be preserved to protect the area's unique natural features and give the public the opportunity to enjoy the surrounding area. The original construction of the park included a 1.5-mile, 1.5-meter trail from the beach to the coast. There was a demand for overnight accommodation, and in March 2002 a 2,500 square metre campsite, Henderson Beach Lodge, was added and made available to the public. In addition, two more campsites have been added, one on the west and the other on the east, to provide visitors with a more unique experience in the parks.
Friends of Henderson Beach State Park is a nonprofit organization that provides additional jobs and funding to support the park. The addition of two new campsites and the construction of a 2,500 square metre campsite on the east side of the beach are an important addition to the parks.
Through the joint partnership and cooperation of the two municipalities, a beautiful nature trail was built, as well as a new parking lot for the park's multi-storey car park.
The new parking lot on the west side of Henderson Beach will be opened to the public on July 1, 2017, for the first time in more than a decade.
The site was created to provide the United States with a national security program for missile tests. The US Air Force also maintains a large site on the site, known as the Clausen Tracking Site.
Henderson Beach State Park, one of the last endangered bushland communities on the Australian coast, is now providing visitors with access to the largest remaining bushland community in the Pacific Northwest and the first of its kind in North America.
Today, a larger version of the tracking system is available and is a landmark for visitors to the park.
The remains of the original tracking devices are still visible in the parking lot of Henderson Beach State Park. Drinks can be bought at the vending machine or at the park entrances to buy picnic baskets, picnic tables and other groceries.
The heated, air-conditioned bathhouse features a coin-operated washing machine, dryer, vending machine and hot tub. The park has 60 excellent camping and caravan pitches, which can accommodate up to 60 people with a maximum capacity of 10,000 square metres. Each pitch has its own shower, toilet, shower cabin, bathroom, kitchen and other amenities.
Unlike the remote wilderness camps, food and restaurants are only a short drive away, either from a restaurant or by car.
Visitors to this coastal park are reminded to pay attention to the coloured flags at the reception and on the beach. These flags indicate the bathing conditions of the beaches; purple means there are no marine pests, purple indicates the water that is near the river. Double red flags mean that you can swim carefully, and double blue flags mean that you can swim carefully and stay close to the shore.

The high dunes were created from bunkers built decades ago when the military used the area as an area.
