About San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park

The limestone outcrops and the extreme height differences provide a habitat for many deciduous tree species, including several family trees. The reserve has the largest remaining mature forest in the state of California and the second largest in California. White and tail deer, elk, elk, coyotes and other wildlife live in the 18 natural communities that are located in and around the reserve.

The park offers outdoor adventures in three different areas: the northern third of the park, the southern third and the western third. In the northern third of the park there is riding, but riders have to prove a negative gear test. To ensure a true wilderness experience of solitude and tranquility, it was designated only for hiking.

The riding and cycling trail is located on US 441 south of Alachua, and the trail bees four miles northwest of Gainesville on State Road 232.

The routes are marked in colour and the distance between the individual routes is about 2.6 km.

The San Felasco Hammock Conservation Park in Alachua County, Florida, offers 3 hiking trails for nature observation and hiking. It is located in the southeastern part of the reserve and is located on US 441 south of Gainesville on State Road 232, about two miles north of Alchua.

Bicycles and horses are not allowed on the paths, dogs on a lead are welcome, as are people on foot, with bicycles, wheelchairs and strollers.

The Tung Nut Loop Trail connects to the Cellon Creek Trail and offers breathtaking views of the San Felasco Hammock Park and its surroundings. This 8 mile route for advanced skiers is an excellent introduction to a wide terrain, from steep slopes to flat terrain. There is a 4 km middle way between the Cotton Tail Trail, the Cellon Creek Trail and the T Kung Nut Trail.

The sweet rubber loop can be accessed from the Tung Nut Loop with a hammock turntable, and the hammock hub can reach the hammocks on the hub. At the end of this 8 km long trail there is a challenging climb to the summit of the Cotton Tail Trail.

This trail is accessible from the Sweet Gum Loop, and at the end of this 8 km trail there is a short hike to the summit of the Cotton Tail Trail. Hikers can use both routes, but please bring your own hiking equipment such as hiking boots, snowshoes or a mountain bike. Mountain bike and horse riding trails are separate paths and meet only at a well-cleared intersection.
