About St. Andrews State Park

The former military reserve has long been known as one of the most active military reserves in the U.S. Army, serving in both the Army and Navy.

Two nature trails wind through a rich variety of plants and communities along the coast, with wonderful opportunities for bird watching. Water sports enthusiasts can swim, and two jetties - up - jetties boat rampant fishing opportunities. Those who want to relax can sunbathe on the beach or enjoy a leisurely lunch in the shade of a picnic pavilion.

A fully equipped campsite with a large number of campsites, picnic areas and picnic tables makes the park a popular overnight destination and a wide range of camping options.

Boat tours to Shell Island are offered in spring and summer and at reduced prices snacks, souvenirs and fishing equipment are available.

The hotel is located on the west side of St. Andrews State Park, just south of the parking lot at the entrance to Shell Island.

The Gator Lake Trail Overlook offers visitors a beautiful vantage point from which to observe a variety of birds, birds of prey and other wildlife. Inside the park you can see raccoons and white-tailed deer, and from Bush Marsh you can see a number of different species of animals, such as ducks, turkeys, geese, foxes and much more.

Opened in 1951, the park now covers more than 1,260 hectares and houses over 2,000 hectares of wildlife habitat.

It was part of the St Andrews military reserve during the Second World War and a round-gun platform still stands on the beach near the pier.

In the park's Grand Lagoon you will find an authentically reconstructed turpentine still life - the life of the Great Barrier Reef. This is a great place for guests to enjoy a beautiful sunset and watch the passing boats.

There are three shops in the park, which are open during the summer season from March to Labor Day. The shops offer a variety of food and drinks as well as a wide selection of souvenirs. The park has 176 campsites in the St. Andrew's State Park area with a total area of 2,000 square meters. All pitches have barbecue, electricity and running water, as well as access to a picnic area, picnic tables, a fireplace, toilets and showers.

The park offers access to the beach from the mainland and offers a beach on Shell Island where visitors can also enjoy the beaches. During the day, showers are available for day visitors and parking spaces are used for the convenience of a long day on the beach. There is a parking lot for registered campers who stay during their stay in the park, but there is no parking for those who do not.

The only picnic areas and barbecues are near the boat pool, and there is a picnic area on the south side of the beach, right next to the main entrance to the park. A popular time to explore the parks is from 9 am to 4 pm on weekends and from 5 pm to 5.30 pm, 6 pm to 7.15 pm and from 4.45 pm to 8.40 pm on weekends.

For your safety, it is important to note that persons under 16 years of age are legally obliged to wear a bicycle helmet.

In order to preserve the natural areas of the park, bicycles are restricted to the streets and are not allowed in the parking lot or on the paths. The Heron Pond Trail leads through a flat pine forest with turpentine pine, and the path to Lake Gator leads to a picturesque view of it. St. Andrew's State Park has two trails: the Heron's Pond and a trail from the trail at the southern end of Gators Lake.

Ranger can be visited at any time of the day to provide information about the park and its activities, as well as a variety of activities for children and adults.

Pets must be kept on a leash and always well behaved, must not be left unattended and their owners must pick up their animals. Pets that intimidate other people or damage the park's resources are asked to leave the park with their owner or to seek permission before leaving the park.

Guide and farm animals are exempt from the above restrictions, but pets are not allowed on beaches, wetlands or playgrounds. Pets may not be taken out of the park without the permission of a park ranger or park employee.

Pets must be kept under the supervision of a park ranger or park employee at all times and must not remain unattended for more than 30 minutes by a handcuffed - in pet -. Pets must keep at least one third of their body weight in water at all times.

Animals may not be kept on the grounds of the park and breaches of these rules may result in campers being asked to put animals up in the parks or leave the campsites.

St. Andrews State Park is located about two miles east of Highway 392 on the west side of the highway at the intersection of Thomas Drive and Highway 98. From Highway 98, follow Highway 3031 ("Thomas Drive") straight ahead onto Highway 392 and turn left to reach the gateway to St. Andrew's State Park. Turn left onto Thomas Drive and then right onto the road to the entrance of St Andrews State Park.
