About Indian Springs State Park

Indian Springs is located on I-75 in central Georgia and is considered the nation's oldest national park. It was purchased by the state in 1825 and declared an official State Forest Park in 1927, and is considered one of Georgia's oldest state parks.

For centuries, the Creek Indians used the springs to heal the sick and to give the well additional strength. In the 19th century, the area was a lively spa town, and for centuries afterwards it was home to a large number of Indians.

Today, visitors can still taste the spring water and enjoy boating and fishing, as well as hiking and camping. Built during the Great Depression, the museum is lit for hours and houses a collection of artefacts from the early days of the park's history.

Heading north on I-75, take Exit 188 and continue south Highway Ga. Highway, then continue north on Ga Highway to Exit 205, which will take you south from I / 75 into Jackson.
