About Gunpowder State Park

There are more than 100 kilometers of hiking trails, including trails for all ages, and the park offers a variety of scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The long, narrow park features steep, rugged slopes, steep cliffs and steep slopes, as well as the Gunpowder River and its tributary, the Little Gun Powder River. It was created to protect the waterfalls that start at Days Cove, where the large and small rivers of powder meet.

Dundee Creek Marina is located in the Chase Community in Eastern Baltimore County and the park includes the Hereford area on York Rd. The marina is located at Dundees Creek, at the mouth of the Gunpowder River. It offers slippers and boaters a range of amenities including kayaking, fishing, boating, kayaking and rafting, as well as a variety of packaged food and beverages.

The marina shop is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the swimming area is monitored by lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Hammerman Area offers a wide range of activities including kayaking, fishing, rafting, canoeing and boating, as well as a variety of packaged food and beverages. Swimming is allowed in the area when the lifeguard is not in use, and lifeguards monitor the bathing area from May to August and from June to September.

Three picnic huts can be rented, and in the area there is also a playground with various play equipment for children, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic benches, a pool and a water slide.

In the park there is also an abandoned railway bed with some old railway tracks, and there is a small stream, a creek bed, an old railway track and a few abandoned railway beds.

Along the way, you'll find sites of natural and historical interest, including the restored Monkton Station, which serves as a museum, gift shop and ranger station for NCR visitors.

The Sparkassennaturzentrum is also located on the NCr-trail and the station is also open on weekends in spring and autumn. In summer, Monkton Train Station is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm and on weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

The Nature Centre, run by park staff, is open from 10 am to 5 pm and is available to schools and groups on request. The park is located in Harford and Baltimore counties and its headquarters are located in the Gunpowder State Park Visitor Center on NCr Trail in Monkton, Maryland.
