Pittsfield State Forest is teeming with streams, waterfalls and flowering shrubs, and the forest has two picnic spots and a beach.

The view from the top of Berry Mountain is one of the best places to watch the sunset, and fishermen can also stop by the beach at the end of a long sandy beach.

Nearby there is a wheelchair accessible picnic area and toilet, which is also preferred for wheelchair users and other visitors.

Balance Rock is a 165-ton limestone block balanced on the bedrock in the northeast corner of Pittsfield State Forest.

Berry Pond campsite offers 13 rustic campsites on Berry Mountain, and the campsite at the foot of Parker Brook has 18 places for flushing toilets.

The earthen dam at Lulu Brook holds clear, cold spring water perfect for swimming, and visitors can picnic there and at Parker Brook.

The Pittsfield State Forest is located in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts, and there is no regular camping season. Office hours at the campsites are from 8 am to 10 pm; office hours for campers are from 9 am to 5 pm and from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Turn right on Church Hill Street, then left on West Street and follow the signs to the park, turn right on Hungerford Street. Turn right off Hungerfords Street into Pittsfield State Forest parking lot on the west side of the road.

Tucked away on the left side of the street, the entrance to Cascade Street is on the right.

When you reach the Dan Casey Causeway, turn right onto West Street, then left onto North Street, and then right again onto Church Hill Street.
