About Sakatah State Park

The Sakatah - Singing Hills State Trail stretches 39 miles from Mankato to Faribault and runs through Sak atah Lake State Park. The asphalt road offers hikers, cyclists, skiers and snowmobilers a beautiful landscape with some of the toughest forests in Minnesota.

Canoeists are drawn to the calm waters, anglers are caught and visitors like to camp and picnic during the season.

The area was described by the original surveyor in the late 19th century and is one of the most beautiful areas in Minnesota with a rich history of agriculture and hunting.

The moraine is up to 400 feet deep in some areas of the park and the landscape is characterized by a series of ridges and ridges, as well as a number of lakes and streams.

The park is located on the north side of Lake Superior, north of St. Paul and south of Duluth.

Ice blocks left behind by receding glaciers formed a depression that created Lake Sakatah and a series of ridges along the coast, as well as a series of lakes and streams. The lake, the largest of its kind in the US, offers excellent views of the Great Lakes and the rest of the northern and eastern borders of Minnesota.

In the park you can listen to songbirds, woodpeckers, hawks and owls and observe the animals that are often seen in and around the park.

The area is called Sakatah, which translates as "singing hill," giving the area the same name as the ancient city of Sakatah in the Middle East. The area, which is now a park, was once inhabited by the inhabitants of Sakhalin village, a small village on the eastern edge of what is now Iran.

The cannons and other rivers served as the main routes for trade between India, China and the Middle East. Along these routes there were numerous trading posts and Indian villages, and these waterways made it possible to transport heavy loads. The Big Woods made difficult land possible, but the Cannon, along with the other waterways, made it possible to carry heavy loads.

In 1862, a merchant named Alexander Faribault built a post on the northeast shore of Cannon Lake, one of the first white settlements in the area, and it was eventually opened. It is believed to be the place that separates the Sakata from the Lower Sak-Atah Lakes. The entrance to the park is located at the intersection of Main Street and Cannon River, north of Lake Superior, about 30 miles east of St. Paul.
