About Giant Springs Heritage State Park

In 1805, the Lewis and Clark Expedition discovered the Roe River, one of the largest rivers in the Western United States and an important water source for the Great Lakes. Here is a list of all the rivers and streams in Big Springs State Park listed by the Roe River.

The water dates back 3,000 years and remains at a temperature of 54 degrees, with a maximum flow of 1.5 million gallons per second. Giant Springs flows from the Roe River to the Big Springs River and measures 7.9 million gallons, with an average flow rate of 2.7 million cubic feet per minute.

More than a quarter of a million people visit Giant Springs Heritage Park each year, and many come to marvel at the remarkable features and diversity of birds from around the world. The fish breeding program breeds 1.3 million fish per year and more than 1,000 fish species, birds, reptiles and amphibians visit each year in summer and autumn.

Since then, more than 1,000 bird species, reptiles and amphibians from around the world have been distributed over the 150-mile breeding grounds of the region.

A visitor centre, located right on the road from the springs, offers information on the observation of fish and birds, as well as a mini theatre with animal videos. A picnic area for groups is also available, with picnic tables, picnic chairs, a picnic table and a variety of food.

Giant Springs State Park is located on the west side of Lake Ontario, south of the city of St. George.

It is open on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm, on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 6 pm.
