About Hempstead Lake State Park
Hempstead Lake State Park is a multifunctional facility offering the public a variety of hiking, camping, fishing and recreational opportunities.
Hempstead Lake State Park has three ponds accessible for fishing, and a picnic pavilion is available for large parties. Visitors are allowed to enter the park with an annual permit issued by the parks.
The park has a shaded picnic area with a hand-carved wooden carousel, picnic tables and picnic chairs, and a large picnic table with seating for up to 20 people.
McDonald's Pond and South Pond are stocked with trout in the fall, and visitors can target trout during the winter months. At Hempstead Lake fishing is only possible with catch - and release, but there are no other species.
