Sycamore offers an oasis of nature with vast farmland and provides the perfect backdrop for scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Ohio River.

Sycamore State Park is located on the eastern edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Ohio River. The original forest was home to many wild turkey, deer, elk and bison species and is teeming with wild turkeys, deer and elk as well as wild boars and other wild animals.

The beauty and fertility of this area was well known to settlers and people from Kentucky east of the Alleghenies until permanent settlement occurred in the area. Settlements and development in this valley soon ended the forest and game, but not before the Kentucky settlement of people from the East and West.

In the 1880 "s, agricultural production in the area was higher than elsewhere in Ohio, and conservation efforts are now secondary - growth forests.

The huge treetops that line the banks of Wolf Creek give the park its name, and the forest meadows are home to various colonies of wild flowers, including a variety of native plants such as blueberries, rhododendrons, pines, orchids and some bird species. Wildlife that grow here include deer, elk, elk, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, cats, owls, birds of prey, squirrels, bats, rabbits and other birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals.

The first inhabitants of the area were the Adena Indians, who lived in Ohio between 800 BC and 700 AD. Their presence is evident on the ceremonial hill in the park. The area became a stronghold of the Miami and Shawnee tribes from the mid to late 17th century, but the Greenville Treaty of 1795 robbed the Indians of all the land they lost. Less than a year after the treaty was signed, the first settlers arrived and in the late 17th and early 18th centuries this area was overrun by settlers.

Due to the fertile soil, settlers settled in the area and when the Miami-Erie Canal was completed in 1829, it became quite wealthy with a population of over 2,000.

In this fertile soil, huge gravel and sand soils provided excellent materials for road construction.

Hundreds of miles of road were built from these materials, making Sycamore State Park one of the most important roads in Ohio. Once the land, which includes Sy Camcordore State Park, was bought by a development company to build a residential project. When the company was unable to complete the construction, the land was offered to the state of Ohio for use as a public park.

Sycamore was inaugurated as a national park in November 1979 - then Secretary of State John F. Kennedy, then governor of Ohio, and later President George W. Bush.

All areas are accessible for disabled people and group rooms are available for organised groups on a reservation basis. Group camp A features an outdoor picnic area with picnic table, picnic tables, fireplace, fountain and picnic benches.

Camp B is suitable only for tents and electrical services, a fireplace and picnic tables are available. Group camp A features an outdoor picnic area with picnic table, fireplace, fountain, picnic benches and a picnic bench.

Canoes and rowing boats are suitable for calm waters in the park, please contact the park office for details. Picnicking is popular in Sycamore State Park, with picnic tables, benches, fireplace and picnic benches popular.

Reservations are possible from 1 February to 30 November, details available at the park office.

The lookout has a large number of picnic tables, picnic benches and picnic chairs, so it is open all year round. Accommodation is provided or reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. For more information, call the Park Office at (713) 642-5500.

An additional hiking trail connects the two paths and thus creates an 8 km long hiking opportunity. Huge areas of trees form a picturesque canopy above the trail and offer hikers the opportunity to explore the Wolf Creek Valley. Explore the surrounding forests and meadows, and enjoy scenic views of the stream and the nearby stream valley.

If the riders are not covered in snow, they can also look forward to a 15 km long riding trail, which includes a snowmobile route. This trail leads to picturesque meadows and forests with views of the Wolf Creek Valley and the nearby stream valley.

The nearby city of Dayton has several attractions, including the Wright Brothers flying machine, which is on display in Carillon Park. More unique flight demonstrations are on display at the US Air Force Museum, and more unique flights and demonstrations are also being shown.

Local historical attractions include the Dayton Museum of Natural History, Wright Brothers Museum and Ohio State Museum. Nature lovers can visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and Lake Erie.
