About Buck Creek State Park

Buck Creek was home to Native Americans and pioneers, and the forest is occasionally interrupted by prairie forests. Buck Creek State Park, a state park in the western part of the state of Minnesota, is home to a prairie forest, occasionally interrupted by forests and a small stream.

Most of the Indians were scattered throughout the forest, and some live in the prairie, but not all live there.

As the threat from the Indians diminished, settlers moved into the area and found the land extremely fertile. Springfield changed from rural to industrial, and a new piqua was built on the banks of the Miami River.

In September 1966, the US Army Corps of Engineers began to seize Buck Creek for a flood control project, and in September 1966 they began construction to seize it for flood control projects.

Buck Creek State Park was officially opened in June 1975 and the wooded area has 26 single-family homes overlooking the lake. Modern campsites have 101 pitches, 89 of which have electricity and campers with pets can camp on designated pitches.

Sunbathers and swimmers enjoy a 2400 foot long sandy beach, and unlimited horsepower boat rides are allowed on the 2,120-acre lake. A four-lane launch pad provides lake access from the parking lot at Buck Creek State Park, south of the park entrance.

The marina offers fuel, a snack bar and bait shop, and two picnic shelters are available, which are served according to the motto "first come, first served." The picnic area features tables and barbecues in a scenic location, as well as picnic tables, picnic chairs and a picnic table.

Hiking, picnicking and fishing are possible, and the lake offers camping and other recreational activities. The US Army Corps of Engineers operates a visitor center and theme park near the dam, as well as a guided tour of the park.

Crabill House is maintained and fully restored by the Clark County Historical Society in Parkland.

The building where David Crabill, an early settler, once lived, and as a historic site, the brick house can be visited today.

I-75 continues west at the first light on Route 40 and turns right west of the parking lot onto Buck Creek State Park Road. I-75 turns left onto Buck Creek Road and continues west on Route 40 to the first light.

Route 40 follows East - North Bird Road and turns right at the first traffic light on Route 40 onto Buck Creek State Park Road. I-75 turns left onto South - East Bird Rd and follow Route 40 to the second light and then west onto Buck Creek.
