About Harris Beach State Park
Harris Beach is named after the Scottish pioneer George Harris, who settled here in the late 1880s to raise sheep and cattle. The park has the largest island on the Oregon coast, and Bird's Island, also known as Goat Island, is home to a large population of tuff grebes and a small number of sea lions.
The park offers a mix of sandy beaches interspersed with eroded seabed and rocks, as well as a variety of waterfalls, sand dunes and other natural features.
After a strong and dramatic winter storm, many people flocked to Harris Beach State Park, with its beautiful beaches, waterfalls, sand dunes and other natural attractions. Others were looking forward to the green and fragrant spring and some downloaded brochures with plants that are common in the area.
Summer brought warm days and sunny beaches, while autumn brought more rain, more snow and more cold, but not as much snow. The fascinating stopover made the park a popular destination for many visitors from all over the country and the world.
