About Hilgard Junction State Park

Hilgard Junction State Park is located south of the city of Hilgard, Minnesota, about 30 miles north of St. Paul. The park offers a variety of hiking, cycling, fishing, camping and hiking trails, as well as a number of picnic and recreation areas. The Grande Ronde River flows through the park and attracts anglers, rafters and swimmers, along with a wide range of wildlife such as elk, coyotes, bears, foxes, birds, squirrels and other wildlife.

Beavers, minks, deer and a variety of birds inhabit the park area and can be observed all year round. Autumn frosts bring forth colorful autumn foliage along the river corridor, and winter snow brings herds of elk and deer to the banks of rivers.

While camping in the park, you can explore miles of open road through the national forest and see the footprints of the historic Oregon Trail as you cross Blue Mountain. If you are traveling on Interstate 84, stop off to stock up on groceries, attend community events, or spend a night or two in the nature of eastern Oregon.
