About Hills Creek State Park

Hills Creek State Park in scenic Tioga County, north of Schenectady, is rich in wildlife. Ospreys, loons and waterfowl can be seen, as well as the lake, which is one of the largest in the state of New York and the second largest in the United States.

Tent huts, beaches and picnics make the hotel an ideal place for a family holiday. Hills Creek State Park and the Tioga County area, north of Schenectady, are rich in wildlife. Among the active beaver colonies there are a variety of aquatic animals - loving creatures such as beavers, elks, elks, deer, coyotes, wolves, foxes and other wildlife.

Bald eagles are frequent visitors to the park, and visitors can observe a variety of birds of prey such as hawks, owls, peregrine falcons, bald eagles and bald vultures.

In spring, Hills Creek Lake becomes one of the most popular waterfalls in the park and a popular destination for water sports. Hills Creek is also home to a variety of birds of prey, including owls, peregrine falcons, bald eagles and bald vultures.

The land, originally known as Kelly's Marsh, was bought in the 1950s by John Kelly, a local businessman and founder of the painting company Kelly & Co. In the swamp at the present location of this beach there is a small mine where pigments were extracted for the paint industry.

The park was opened in 1953 and is named after the Hills Creek stream that flows through it.

The river was named after Captain William Hill, who settled in the area in 1820, and the park was named after Hill Creek, a stream that flows into the area.

Ten modern cabins can be rented all year round, but weekly reservations are required for summer. Each cottage is furnished and has its own bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. All cabin tenants should bring their own food, water, bed linen, toiletries and other clothing.

Three cottages for up to five people can accommodate single, double and single beds and offer a variety of amenities such as kitchen, bathroom, dining room and living room. The 102 parking spaces are located at the northern end of the park and can be accessed from the main road into the parks. The campsites range from green areas to sites dominated by giant hemlock trees.

The campsites are open on the second Friday in April and close on the third weekend in October, and they reopen on the first Saturday in March and on the 1st of April. The sanitary landfill is located just outside the campsite and the campsite's central location is at the northern end of Hills Creek State Park, south of Hill's Creek Road.

Each has three cottages for up to five people and can accommodate single, double and single beds. All campers can shower at the campsite and qualified groups of adults and young people can use one of the three cabins, one cabin or a combination of all three. Each room has a single bed, two double beds, one double bed and two single beds.

The area is rustic and therefore no vehicles are allowed at the campsite, but the sandy beach is open and the wooded peninsula is open. A very picturesque peninsula is located on the south side of the park, north of Hill Creek State Park.

The sandy seabed and grassy beach are very popular and open seasonally, but swim at your own risk. Nearby there is a beach with a sandy beach and a small stream, both of which are open but not open to the public at the same time.

The two areas are also boat moorings with concrete ramps and Hills Creek Lake, which covers 137 hectares, has a sandy beach with a grassy beach and a small creek, as well as a picnic area with picnic benches and picnic tables.

All motor boats must have a boat registration in the respective state, and all non-motorized boats must have one of the following boat registrations in each state. Renting a rowing boat costs $10 per day, or $25 for a two-day pass for adults and $15 for children.

Picnic area 1 is located at the southern end of the lake near the dam, and picnic area 2 is located on the northern beach of a large bay. Hills Creek State Park has two picnic areas, one for adults and two for children, with picnic tables and chairs.

The picnic areas are open all year round and have centrally located drinking fountains, but all other day uses are closed. The picnic area is open all year round and can be shaded with picnic tables, chairs, picnic table, picnic chairs and a centrally located drinks fountain.

Picnic pavilions can be reserved for up to 11 months in advance, and there is an unreserved picnic pavilion, which is served on the first day of the week from 10 am to 4 pm.

The trail follows the lakeside until it ends at Hills Creek Lake and the dam, and part of the trail offers a view of bird species attracted by the red-oiled dogwood that dominates this humid area. In the area you can see a variety of birds and also birds of prey, such as owls, falcons, eagles, peregrine falcons and other birds - such as birds.

The trail then follows the park road, past the picnic area and ends at Hills Creek Lake and the dam at the end of the trail, south of Hills Lake.

The trail circles the northeastern part of the park, past the hut area and then winds through the forest north and south of Hills Creek Lake and the dam.

In this part of the park it is rich in wildlife and it is not uncommon for deer and capercaillies to roar along the way. The trail starts at the entrance of the campsite and leads about 1.5 km east and then west to Hills Creek Lake.

Attentive hikers can observe a variety of wildlife such as deer, elk, coyotes, elk, bear, wolf and other wildlife. The trail leads to Hills Creek Lake and then to the southern end of the campground and the lake itself.

The park is also accessible via PA 287 between Tioga and Wellsboro and is located on the west side of the State Highway at the intersection of Pennsylvania State Route 287 and PA-287 in the county.
