About Sacajawea State Park

Sacajawea State Park is a 284-acre inland park that sits at the confluence of the Snake and Columbia rivers every day. It has a 9.5-meter freshwater coastline and stretches along the two rivers that together flow into the Sacramento River, the second largest in the United States.

The Sacajawea Interpretive Center is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, closed on November 1st during the season and open on weekends.

The centre is equipped with interactive displays that tell the story of the Lewis and Clark expedition through the life of Sacajawea, the young Shoshone Indian who accompanied the expedition. New exhibits tell what we knew about life before and after the expeditions, as well as about the history and culture of this area.

The park is only open during the day, but the river, beach, children's play equipment and other parking facilities are open to all.

The land of the park consists of wet meadows interspersed with sand dunes and the land around the river. The park is located on the banks of Great Missoula Lake, which was flooded 12,000 years ago. In 1931, the property was bequeathed to Washington State Park as part of a land grant to the state of Montana by the US Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The park is named after the Shoshone Indian who travelled with Lewis and Clark's expedition. It is located on the banks of the Missoula River, which Lewis & Clark used for an expedition from October 16 to 18, 1805.

The railway was built in 1879 in the town of Ainsworth, but in 1884 it was no longer used as a town. When construction work on the railway site was completed, the buildings were moved and destroyed while crews moved on.

On the premises there were vending machines for drinks, a large number of souvenir shops and some restaurants and shops in the area.

Other services were available within a few kilometers of the park, such as water taxi, bus and train connections to and from the airport.

Sacajawea has a Northwest Discovery Water Trail and is a day park, but overnight stays are permitted year-round. Water hiking and camping is designed for paddlers who go down the river and can accommodate up to eight people. It is based on the principle of "who comes first, comes - how - you - come" and there are no toilets. Groups of more than eight people can contact the park for more information about camping, water hiking or other activities.

The park has a small, sheltered lagoon for boats departing from the small, sheltered lagoons, and a large, open lake for kayaking and canoeing.

An annual pass can be purchased in the park, or you can buy annual passes at one of the many boat moorings, tipping trailers and parking lots. Staff are available in all of these parks, as well as many other state parks in the area.

The park offers 70-foot berths and camping along the Northwest Discovery Water Trail, as well as boat moorings and parking for small boats.

Fees are charged for moorings, buoys and buoys, daily and annual permits are available. The park has no shelters, but groups of more than eight people can contact the park to obtain a free parking ticket for their boat. Available on the basis of the First come, first served, is designed for paddlers on the river and can accommodate up to eight people, with a maximum capacity of four people per boat, per day, on-serve basis.

One of the accommodations can accommodate up to 200 people, and one of them can accommodate 200 or more people. Guided tours are from 10 am to 4 pm, information and reservations at the park office at 509 - 545 - 2361.

For more information, please contact the Park Office at 509 - 545 - 2361 or the National Park website for more details.

From Pasco take the motorway east, turn right onto Tank Farm Rd and the park is at the end of the road. The hotel is located on the west side of Tank Farm Rd, just south of Highway 101, about half a mile from the entrance.
