The Cedar Grove Group Campground is reserved from April 1 to November 1, and Palomar Mountain State Park offers a wide range of camping options, from single to multiple camping. Much of the 1,862 hectares is covered with coniferous forest, while the dry plains around the mountains are covered with coniferous trees and forests.

In summer, when temperatures soar, the park offers a cool, green retreat, but autumn offers dramatic color changes. Stormy winter winds offer a wide view of the peaks, and in winter autumn and winter cover the mountains.

The tall trees and mountain meadows make it easy for Southern California day hikers to overlook the Sierra Nevada - an atmosphere like in a fairy tale. The presence of the Palomar Islands in the park, as well as the large number of native plants and animals, indicate that the indigenous people lived in the area around them for many hundreds of years. We invite you to explore, but please do not overhike, especially in the winter months.

The remote Palomar mountain meadows are home to cattle and horse thieves who graze their stolen animals in the highlands so that you can sneak up on them safely. The park is located on the 76 motorway, which passes under the S6 motorway and then leaves at the S7 motorway junction on the mountain. Day tours are offered on a four-lane sampler that leads to a lookout point at 5,338 feet on Boucher Hill.
