About Curry Hammock State Park
Hardwood hammocks, found on tropical islands, support the health and survival of many bird species, reptiles and amphibians. Mangroves, swamps, seagrass meadows and wetlands provide important habitats for tropical animals. The park consists of a mixture of mangrove forests, wetlands, grasslands, forests and grasslands.
The 28 campsites along the coast are open all year round from 1 November to 31 May. Most have gravel parking for cars and campers, and most have adjacent sandy areas to pitch tents. Florida State Parks is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. The sandbox is located in the areas 10 - 19, 21 - 26 and the sandbox in the areas 11 - 14, 26 - 29 and 30 - 31.
The gravel is coarse, but you can also pitch a tent and there is no landfill at any of the campsites. The 28 campsites have been reserved by Reserve of America, so plan ahead and have them ready to fill up quickly in winter.
Swimming is possible in designated areas, but generally the water is shallow and the current and waves are gentle. Due to the high water level and the high waves, swimming outside the designated area is generally not possible.
Canoeing and kayaking are great in Curry Hammock State Park, and the shallow water is usually calm and there is no light current. Motored boats can start the day at their campsite and continue to the coast.
There are beautiful mangroves and streams to explore, but most of the water in the park is in a burning zone. There are no facilities for motor boaters in this park, and it is not allowed to fish on the beach.
The canals adjacent to the park produce sizable sharks, snappers and snook and more, and the homes are often home to the hunting of bonefish. Florida fishing rules apply to this park, but spearheads are prohibited at all times. The picnic area is located at the southeastern end of the parks and has picnic tables, picnic chairs, picnic table and benches, and picnic food.
Other picnic tables are scattered along the waterfront, and pavilions are available, though not reserved, on the basis of the "first come, first served" principle. For availability and reservations please contact the ranger station at 305 - 289 - 2690.
The running surfaces are uneven, and suitable footwear is recommended for medium to long distances - running, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
The Overseas Heritage Multi-use Trail, which runs through the park and provides easy access for marathons, is also welcome. Inline skating is allowed on the trails and in some areas of the State Park as well as in the parking lot. Bicycles are welcome on park roads, but to preserve the natural areas within the parks, bicycles are restricted to the roadway and may not be used in public areas. For safety reasons, persons under 16 years of age are legally obliged to wear a properly seated bicycle helmet.
Pets must be kept under the supervision of their owners at all times and must not be left unattended or tied up in the park for more than 30 minutes.
Quiet times are available from 23: 00 to 20: 30 on weekdays and from 21: 45 to 22: 15 on weekends and public holidays.
Florida law requires that all pets be vaccinated against rabies, so their owners must pick up their pets and keep them in a safe place.
Animals that are noisy, dangerous, intimidating or destructive must not stay in the park and must be locked up or locked away.
Animals are not allowed on the grounds of the park, and pets are not allowed near the beach, picnic blankets or bathhouses. Pets must behave well and be kept on a lead in areas where they are allowed, such as the parking lot, the picnic area and the bathhouse. Violations of these rules may result in campers being asked to put animals in the parks or to leave the campsite.
For more information, see the official Pet Policy of the Park for more details on pet policies and regulations, and for a full list of rules for each of the parks.
The park is located on the side of US-1 and the entrance to the complex is on the ocean side on US-1. The park began as a state park in the early 1900s, with the creation of the park by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1903.
