Florida's cowboy heritage comes alive in Lake Kissimmee State Park with an 1876 cow encampment.

Visitors can go boating, canoeing, fishing and fishing on this picturesque lake. In the game park you can also see white-tailed deer on the lake and the lakes Kissin 'Tiger and Rosalie.

Students of nature can observe and study the rich flora and fauna on the 13-kilometre-long hiking trail. Six kilometers of hiking trails are available to cyclists, a total of 12 kilometers of hiking trails for cyclists, hikers and mountain bikers.

The dark sky makes stargazing a popular nightly activity for campers, and large shaded picnic areas and gazebos are available. The park has a number of fully equipped campsites, such as the youth campsite, which can accommodate up to 50 people, and a large picnic area with picnic tables and chairs.

Lake Kissimmee State Park, the largest state park in Florida, is located on the west side of Lake Kissimmee, south of the city of St. Petersburg, Florida.

European men came to Florida in the 15th century, but their presence was not felt here until the 19th century. Later, the area was widely used for wood and turpentine, and Fort Gardiner was built on the west side of Lake Kissimmee State Park, south of the lake. After the turpentine industry was withdrawn from the areas, a town, Rosalie, was built and abandoned.

During the Civil War, the area was used for livestock farming, which was shipped to the Confederate Army and exchanged with Cuba for supplies. During the war, cattle was the most important industry and it is still so today.

In 1969, the state of Florida acquired 5,030 acres of land from the William Zipprer Estate to use as a state park, and in 1977, Lake Kissimmee State Park was opened to the public. In 1997 900 hectares along the western border of the park were acquired and managed.

60 of the campsites are equipped with electricity and water connections, but there is no drainage connection, as there are no landfills nearby.

The campsites in Lake Kissimmee State Park have water, power lines and plenty of shade, and most are surrounded by a beautiful natural buffer that provides some seclusion from the property. There is no landfill at the entrance of a campsite as there is a septic connection. For those who prefer primitive camping, there are a number of primitive campsites in the park, such as the one below.

The oak hammocks in which the campsites are located make this one of the most beautiful places in our state.

Everything must be packed in a backpack, including water, except food, water and a small amount of camping equipment such as tent, sleeping bag and water bottle.

Lake Kissimmee State Park offers two campsites for up to 25 people each and a youth campsite with a maximum capacity of 10,000 square meters. The pitches are off the beaten track and offer plenty of shade, as 85% of the campsite area is covered by beautiful living oaks. All facilities are located half a kilometre walk from the campsites and have access to a picnic area, picnic tables, water, showers and toilets on each campsite.

Parking and unloading areas are located on the north and south sides of Lake Kissimmee State Park to ensure better accessibility.

Bring your own boat as there are no rental facilities in the park, but boating activities include kayaking, fishing and wildlife watching on Florida's most pristine waterway. Explore Lake Kissimmee State Park and the Everglades National Wildlife Refuge, the largest wildlife refuge in the state of Florida.

The park has no boat ramps or marinas, but there is a private boat ramp that allows the launch of airboats within a few miles of the park. Airboats are not allowed to take off from the marina for reasons of space and safety. You can tow your airboat Provided you attach a support to your tripod so that you cannot start the support.

There are a variety of fish that can be caught, such as bluefish, perch, redfish and even some other trout species, as well as some small mouthfuls.

The boat ramp in the park offers direct access to Lake Kissimmee, but if you don't have a boat, the marina behind the dam offers the same variety of fish. In Florida, people 15 years and older must have a freshwater fishing license, and you need a reed fishing license. If you fish outside your home, you do not necessarily need to behave in your boat.

The large, expansive living oaks provide shade for picnics in the park, and there are plenty of picnic tables, picnic chairs, benches and tables for picnic meals.

At the edge of the picnic area is a 40-foot lookout tower, from which you can overlook the upper part of Lake Kissimmee. The park has numerous picnic tables and four gazebos, at the top of which is a large picnic table, as well as picnic chairs and benches.

For more information on the availability and price of pavilions, contact the park office. The playground is located at Lake Kissimmee State Park on the west side of the parking lot and has a playground for children ages 3-5.

The park offers a variety of hiking trails, where white and black bear deer, coyotes and other wildlife are presented. From the car park you can choose from a number of self-guided nature trails or you can choose a path that leads to Kissimmee Lake. If you want to stay under the stars, there are two backcountry campsites along the way, one with oak hammocks and the other with an oak hammock.

Pets must be kept at all times and no animals may be tied up or left unattended for more than 30 minutes or remain in the park for more than 10 minutes.

Quiet times are to be observed on weekdays from 23: 00 to 20: 30 and on the same weekday and on weekends from 19: 45 to 21: 15.

Florida law requires all pets to be vaccinated against rabies and their owners must pick up their pets at Lake Kissimmee State Park Animal Care and Treatment Center (KSPAC).

Animals that are noisy, dangerous, intimidating or destructive must not stay in the park and must be locked up and locked away.

Animals may not be kept on the grounds of the park and any violation of these rules may result in campers being asked to place animals in the parks or leave the campsite. Lake Kissimmee State Park is a state park and a member of the Florida Department of State Parks and Recreation.
