About Big Lagoon State Park

The Coastal Park is located in the Great Lagoon, which separates the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico. Its natural habitats, ranging from salt-water bogs to pine forests, attract a wide variety of birds, especially during the spring and autumn migration. It offers a wonderful opportunity for nature studies, with a variety and variety of plants and animals, as well as an abundance of wildlife.

The West Beach picnic area, shaded by pine and oak trees, is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing meal. Crabs in the shallow waters of the Big Lagoon are also a popular activity, and the park attracts visitors from across Florida, as well as New York and California. It is located on the west side of Perdido Key, north of West Palm Beach, just off the coast of Florida's largest city.

The 712-hectare park has 75 campsites with electricity and water connections that can be reserved through the US reserve. A variety of water sports attract visitors to the park and enjoy swimming and beach activities on the banks of the Grand Lagoon. However, when swimming, one should remain vigilant and keep the safety of others in mind by staying away from boat traffic.

Seasonally, fishing brings redfish, bluefish, flounder and sea trout into the water, and crabs and box fish (mullets) are also popular in the lagoon.

The East Beach Observation Tower offers spectacular views of the lagoon, ocean, beach and city of Long Beach. The 2 km long beach and 2 km long hiking trails offer ample opportunities for nature studies.

The park has numerous interpretative exhibits and guided tours are offered seasonally and on special request for groups. There is also a museum with a large collection of historical and cultural artefacts and a visitor center.
