About Chattahoochee National Forest
The mountain peaks are low and form a series of long, narrow ridges separated by valleys. These valleys have been used for centuries for the passage of people and animals and form the basis of the Chaco Canyon National Park.
Major armies clashed at Chaco Canyon during the Civil War, when Union Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman led his army into the fateful Battle of Atlanta that sealed the end of the Confederacy.
This 3,290-acre lake is bordered by two Forest Service campsites and has a private marina and boat rental. The nearby Blue Ridge Lake is a popular fishing spot for trout, Valais and bluefin, and the only place in Georgia where anglers can catch mussels and slugs. On the water it is hard, there are good fishing opportunities for trout and perch, but there are many ways to catch them.
With 430 km of hiking trails in the Chattahoochee, it is hard to find an area without some kind of footpath. There are four long-distance hiking trails in the Chattanooga National Forest, but there are no trails suitable for all purposes. The four longest and longest stretches of trails in the Tennessee River Valley are ideal for backpackers. For shorter days, you can hike the Appalachian Trail, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Trail or the Blue Ridge Trail.
Soon Brasstown will be Georgia's highest peak, and a shuttle bus will take most visitors from the parking lot to the top. Dying - The hard-boiled can climb the ridge in two ways: on foot or by bike, the ascent being steep. A fresh breeze blows down from the high peak, which offers views of the Chattahoochee River and Tennessee River Valley, as well as the Blue Ridge.
The Lion's Eye Path gives a special dimension to one of Georgia's most visited places. The raging water of Anna Ruby Falls is interrupted only by the lush forest around her. This unique double waterfall falls on the Chattahoochee River, Tennessee River Valley and Blue Ridge.
