About Henrys Lake State Park
The lake is located on the western edge of the Great Lakes National Park system and is a place of dreams for fishermen. Named after the explorer Major Andrew Henry, this park opened on October 1st and closes on October 31st, weather permitting. The park offers campfire and junior ranger programs as well as outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, fishing, kayaking and camping.
Besides the lake, Henry's Lake State Park is home to a number of other national parks in the Great Lakes National Park System, as well as several private and public parks.
The park has a modern fish cleaning station at the boat ramp and camping is possible at one of 44 locations, and cabins can also be rented. Camping is possible on a number of pitches in the park, such as a campground, a camp or a mobile home park. Each unit can accommodate five people and is equipped with a stove, hob and small cooker for cooking and heating. There are no moorings or jetties in the park, but you can rent a tent at Harriman State Park for $5 per night or $10 per day. Amenities include hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, picnicking, swimming and fishing.
The waters of Henrys Lake are home to brown trout, which weigh an average of three to five pounds and can weigh up to three pounds, and neck and rainbow hybrids, which can weigh up to twelve pounds. There is sport fishing that challenges swimmers and tubers, but for ten-year-olds it is just as exciting when they throw worms off the shore of the family boat. However, boaters should beware of unpredictable weather on the lake, especially in the summer months due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
A superb fishing area is located on the boat ramp of Henrys Lake State Park, and near the boat ramps is a modern fish cleaning station.
