Crawford State Park is rich in history and spectacular scenery, but it has had its own flavor in the past, with a rich history of hunting, fishing and camping, as well as a long history as an important part of the state's history.

The 500-acre park covers a total of 1,500 acres and within the boundaries of the park are two archaeological sites, including the Crawford State Park Archaeological Museum and Crawford National Historic Site. The treasure lies on a 150 hectare lake, which was created in the 1930s by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) and is connected by an educational trail. It is located on the other side of Crawford Lake, opposite the museum and was built shortly after the construction of the lake by the CCCC.

Food, fuel and finished products are available in the marina and restaurants in the park and in the parking lot of the museum.

Leisure boating and diving are among the most popular recreational activities, and fishermen like to fish for catfish, cappie and striped bass. Located on the edge of the Ozarks, Crawford State Park showcases the natural beauty and diversity of the Great Lakes region of Missouri. The Rooibos offer spectacular beauty in spring and the lush foliage and surrounding forests are a delight for nature lovers.

Gardner Cave is the third longest limestone cave in Washington, and its early history is unknown, but contemporary reports suggest that the cave was discovered in the summer of 1903 by Ed Gardner, who managed a quarter of a mile of it.

Recreational boats and diving are allowed, and there are many special events throughout the year.
