About General Butler State Resort Park

Perched on a hill where the Ohio and Kentucky rivers converge, the resort honors a prominent military family. Built in 1859, the Butler Turpin House offers spectacular views of the Kentucky River and its tributaries, as well as the river and mountains. Its military glory, named after General William Orlando Butler, dates back to colonial times.

A spacious conference centre makes the resort a destination for both business and leisure travellers. Enjoy the charm of the river city on the hill above the resorts or enjoy scenic views of the Kentucky River and its tributaries and mountains. It offers 500 banquets and 800 seating theatres and has a variety of dining options including a restaurant, bar and hair salon, a spa and fitness centre.

The interior is divided into three main areas: the main lobby, the conference centre and the hotel lobby. A large window at one end serves as a warm break room for good weather and leads to a spacious covered porch overlooking the Kentucky River Valley.

Modern audiovisual connections, including LCD projectors, are used, and a large service kitchen supports General Butler's excellent food service. It can hold up to 160 banquets, has ceiling-mounted parachutes and can hold more than 1,000 people for private events.

If you prefer modern or traditional interiors, General Butler has the perfect holiday home for you. Each of the 24 cottages has its own balcony or terrace and there is a wide selection of options for different styles and styles of houses, from traditional to modern.

In the late afternoon, cottages are available, and fresh linen is provided daily for dishes, cooking utensils and bed linen.

Butler Lodge on the Hill is another attraction in itself and one of the most popular attractions in General Butler State Resort Park. Warm your hands by the beautiful stone fireplace, listen to the piano, admire the Ohio River Valley views, or browse the gift shop, which offers a wide selection of Kentucky crafts and souvenirs.

All 53 rooms have private balconies and terraces overlooking the pool and slopes and are available until late afternoon.

Showers, toilets and laundry rooms are available in the two central service buildings, but pets are not allowed or kept. The spacious campsites have 111 sockets and grills, as well as showers and toilets.

At General Butler you can enjoy a day at the lake with friends, family, friends of the park or even a group of friends and family from all over the world.

The boat moorings are only open for four hours in the afternoon and in any other season private boats with towing engines are not allowed. You can rent a rowing boat on the jetty seasonally, but restrictions on what can be done on Labor Day Weekend have not been announced. In other seasons, private boats with tugs were allowed, but only on weekends and holidays.

Fishing is permitted all year round - on the lakeside, but boat fishing must be done on park rental boats between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Fish such as perch, cappie, bluethroat and catfish will thrive on a 30-acre Butler Lake property. There are No fishing license is required and fishing from the lake shore is permitted all year round.

Birds that stay in the park all year round are the Blue Egret, the Blue Blackbird, the Black Blackbird and the Red-throated Sparrow. Birds that frequently call General Butler in the fall and winter include the Yellow-throated Warbler, White-throated Sparrow and White-throated Sparrow - all common birds in the state.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is a sunny little bird that is observed in spring and summer and is often bedridden in autumn and winter.

Originally from Pennsylvania, the heroes of the Revolutionary War migrated from Jessamine County, Kentucky, to Kentucky. One of five brothers known as the Continental Army butler, he was an aide to General Marquee De Lafayette when he surrendered to the British in Yorktown. Built in 1859 by William Phillips Butler and his wife Elizabeth Turpin and built by their son William Phillip Butler, it was home to a generation of soldiers who became soldiers themselves. During the Civil War, they exploited natural resources at the mouth of the Kentucky River, now known as Carrollton, near General Butler State Park.

Percival and his wife, Mildred Hawkins, built a log cabin on the property, which is now called General Butler State Resort Park. Butler was appointed Kentucky's first aide by Governor Isaac Shelby, fulfilling all of the duties of the office he held for 24 years.

Five of Percival's sons fought in the 1812 war, and the eldest son, Thomas Langford Butler, was an aide to General Andrew Jackson. Jackson's personal thanks - you won Butler's praise for his contributions, but he was the hero of the Battle of New Orleans. William Orlando Butler was remembered by President Polk as one of six generals who fought during the Mexican War.

After the war, Butler received a gold sword from the President of the United States, made by the renowned Ames Sword Company.

Butler's exploits at the Battle of Monterey in 1848 also earned him the Democratic vice presidential nomination, on the ticket of Gen. Lewis Cass. When the Civil War began, Butler's family was more divided than any other in the state.

He was a delegate to the 1861 Washington Convention, married with a military background, and his wife Eliza was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Kentucky, the 1st Congressional District. General Butler State Resort Park at the mouth of the Kentucky River serves as a meeting place for all leading military families in Kentucky.

The Butler Family Cemetery, which is located on the site, houses soldiers from the colonial era and the Civil War. The Gallant Butlers legend was brought to life with the opening of General Butler State Resort Park in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The resort is located 44 miles northeast of Louisville and from Louisville take I-71 to Carrollton and exit at Exit 207. If you are traveling west on I / 64, you can take the Industrial Park Exit (RT-67) and head south on Interstate 64 to Exit 207 and then head north on the east side of the freeway to the General Butler State Resort Park Exit.
