About Jimmie Davis State Park
Jimmie Davis State Park is located on the Caney Lake Peninsula and offers a great location for athletes looking for a prime freshwater fishing spot. Water skiing is another way to enjoy the lake, which was created in 1986 by the damming of Ceyenne Creek.
Cyclists enjoy the park and nature lovers are invited to discover the beauty of the wooded land and the lake. Bring binoculars to see the diversity of birds that live in the area and cycle up and down the hills of North Louisiana. Do not forget to take a look back at the lakeside to appreciate the beautiful pine and deciduous forest that surrounds the lake, and the birds and animals that make the forest their home. The park also has a playground for children, so it never gets boring.
The car parks will be closed from 6 am to 6 pm on weekends and from 7 pm to midnight on weekdays, except for special events.
Jimmie Davis State Park was opened in the fall of 1996 and was originally called Caney Creek Lake State Park. Jimmie Davis State Park was opened on August 1, 1996 as part of the Tennessee Department of Natural Resources (TNDNR).
The renaming of the park was approved by Louisiana State Legislature in honor of Jimmie H. Davis, who served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1944 to 1948 and in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964.
On Saturdays from March to October, the park is used as a playground for children aged 5 to 12 and adults aged 18 and over.
Museum tours give an impression of the culture that once flourished in this place and is considered part of the Jimmie Davis State Park's cultural heritage.
On the shores of a 6400-acre lake lies Jimmie Davis State Park, one of the largest state parks in the United States. With steep gorges and rolling hills, the park offers improved campsites, hiking trails, picnic areas and a variety of recreational activities.
Visitors can observe and hunt deer, elk, coyotes, bears, wolves, cats and other wildlife as well as fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals.
The ads run through January 1 and the museum is showing an exhibition about the history of Jimmie Davis State Park and its history. The festivities include one million tiny lamps that will officially illuminate the state park's main entrance, visitor center and parking lot, as well as shops and homes, on Saturday.
The Jimmie Davis Homecoming is built in the old Davis residence and takes place every year on the first Sunday in October. The museum, located in the Visitor Centre of the park, where the museum and the museum are located, is open every month on weekends and the third Monday of the month.
Guests can enjoy seasonal boat tours and walks in the gardens, as well as the Jimmie Davis Museum and Museum of Natural History on the museum grounds.
Visit the Jimmie Davis Museum and Museum of Natural History on the museum grounds and take a look at fly fishing gear. Buy tickets for the annual fishing trip to the Big Bend National Wildlife Refuge or visit one of the many outdoor activities in the park, such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, camping, hunting and more.
