About Kisatchie National Forest

Kisatchie National Forest is the only national forest in the Pelican State and is located on the west coast of St. Vincent Island and the Grenadines, about 30 miles east of Port-au-Prince. The forest offers a variety of animal and plant species as well as a number of natural and cultural attractions.

It offers many types of recreational activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities.

A 13 km waterway was created along the Bayou Saline, and in autumn 1986 a national observation river was declared a "river of national observation."

Two national recreational trails are located in the forest: the Bayou Saline Trail and the Kiskatchie River Trail, one of the most popular hiking trails in Louisiana.

There are many campsites in the forest, some of which are bounded by the Bayou Saline Trail and Kiskatchie River Trail, as well as some other trails and paths.

Ask the district what it has to offer, but please ask them first. The sandstone paths of the Kisatchie Ranger District are closed and will be closed in the next few days due to excessive rain. All highways and motorways have a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour and an average speed of 30 miles per hour. Some roads have been closed due to heavy rain.
