About North Toledo Bend State Park

North Toledo Bend State Park is located in the heart of nature, just a few miles from the man-made Toledo River reservoir. There are activities in and around the countryside, and it offers a great opportunity to relax and unwind in nature, with a good hike, picnic, hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and more.

The Olympic swimming pool and the bathhouse are also located in the complex, and access to the reservoir is only a short walk from the main building and the parking lot. A concession area and laundry complete the complex and offer visitors amenities for long and short stays in the park.

Behind the main building there is a conference room, which can be reserved for group events, and a picnic area.

The organization that links Toledo to the reservoir organizes numerous freshwater fishing competitions that attract fishermen from all over the country. There is also a relaxing pool and bathhouse as well as a picnic area, picnic tables and picnic chairs.

Parking is closed on Saturdays and Sundays from 6: 00 to 18: 30 and on Sundays from 17: 00 to 19: 45.

In the conference room you can hold a private meeting with the park director, park attendant or park staff.

This fortress was built by Zachary Taylor as part of his mission to secure the western border of the United States. The replica officers quarters, which serves as a museum, visitor center and interpreter program, was refurbished by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (US Army) and the National Park Service.

The water from the 225 hectare lake is pumped into an extensive system of pools and waterfalls, which further enhances the beauty of the formal garden.

The amphitheater offers concerts with gospel and country folklore, and visitors can see interpretative programs and spend time with Civil War artifacts in the museum itself. Take LA-6 West for 6 miles, then LA 117 for 16 miles to North Toledo Bend State Park and then LA 6 East for 12 miles. The landscape is a mixture of forests, meadows and wetlands dotted with small lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, streams and streams. How to get there: From Natchitoche, take LA 6 onto I-49 West (many miles) and turn left onto LA 482, turn right onto LA-482 to Zwolle. From Shreveport, take US 171 south and north to get to Business connected to US-171 Business, and then north to the park.
