About Cypremort Point State Park

Cypremort Point is the only city in the Gulf of Mexico that can be reached by car, along with Grand Isle and Cameron.

A boat stops right outside the park entrance, just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and fishermen can fish in the Gulf Bay. Flounder and redfish are not uncommon in the area, but the 800-meter-long, man-made beach offers plenty of water to enjoy, as well as some of the best views of Cypremort Point State Park. It also offers a great place for kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, fishing and other recreational activities.

The 185-acre park offers special attractions for nature lovers, and overnight guests also have access to the Cypremort Point Nature Center, a 1,000 square foot nature center. If you want to fish from the shore, there is a fishing pier just outside the entrance to the park, which is only 100 meters away.

Located in the heart of a Louisiana swamp, the place is home to an abundance of wildlife, so stay alert and discover more of the natural charm of Cypremort Point. A calm observer can observe a variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, birds of prey, fish and other wildlife. Also native to the area are beavers, eagles, sea lions, raccoons and many other animal species.

Parking spaces are closed from 6 am to 7 pm on weekends and from 1 pm to 5 pm in the summer months.
