About Lake Bruin State Park
The 53 hectare site was originally founded in 1928 as a fish hatchery and today has a water surface of 3,000 hectares. Visitors to Lake Bruin State Park have access to all these acres to enjoy a variety of activities including hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, camping, swimming and much more.
Big Bass fishing is popular all year round, but the best months are April, May, June, September and October. In early spring, the Krappie and the Whitefish come to the pillar mats, and bluetongue fishing is best done in the shallower waters at the end of the lake. Big Bass, Bluegill, Black Bass and Bluefish, as well as boat halls and berths make it convenient for both casual and professional fishermen.
Water sports such as boating and swimming are also popular activities on Lake Bruin, and a bathhouse is nearby. A special area of the lake with sandy beaches offers swimming, as well as a small beach with swimming pool and picnic area.
One day - use area at Lake Bruin offers picnic tables and barbecue areas, and covered gazebos allow visitors to enjoy their meals in all weather conditions. Most of the facilities are accessible for disabled people.
Lake Bruin has 3,000 acres of water, but mere acreage statistics could never do justice to the beauty of this beautiful, clear oxbow lake that was once part of the Mississippi River and the majestic cypresses that stood here when DeSoto explored the river. Visitors to Lake Bru in the State Park have access to a variety of activities including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and camping, as well as fishing and kayaking.
For visitors to the park who want to stay for a while, the campsites around the lake offer enhanced amenities such as a picnic area, picnic tables, showers and toilets. For those who like it rougher, there are also primitive campsites, but for those who like it rougher, Lake Bruin State Park will delight outdoor enthusiasts. Campers and caravans will find the facilities at Lake Bruin unsurpassed, making for a pleasant stay.
The water playground offers refreshing fun for children as well as a variety of activities for adults, such as swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking and kayaking.
