About Wompatuck State Park
Wompatuck State Park has 262 wooded campsites, 140 of which are powered, and the park is popular with campers. Fishing is allowed at Cohasset reservoir and a boat ramp is provided for cars and loading boats. Electricity and water connections are available, as is access to water from the state's two reservoirs.
Visitors can use their services free of charge, and one of the most notable features of this park is its extensive network of paths, trails and trails.
The park is named after an Indian chief known by the local colonists as Josiah Wompatuck. In 1665 the park and the surrounding lands were handed over to English settlers by the English colonists.
During World War II, the park was used by the US military as part of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USAC) and the National Park Service as an ammunition depot.
