About Fort Wilkins State Park
It has a restored army outpost and offers tents and meeting facilities. Fort Wilkins became a state park in 1923 and extensive restoration and development work began as a management project in the 1930s.

Fort Wilkins became a state park in 1923 and extensive restoration and development work began as a management project in the 1930s. The first lighthouse at Lake Superior was built in 1866 and is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan and one of only three in North America.
Souvenirs, snacks and drinks are available in a licensed shop run by the Friends of the Park group. Fort Wilkins State Park features tent and meeting facilities, meeting facilities and a costumed interpreter who will show the history of the Keweenaw Peninsula fortress.
A jetty provides access to Lake Fanny Hooe, with access from Fort Wilkins State Park and Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake of the Lakes.
About two kilometers of dirt tracks provide access to Fort Wilkins State Park and Lake Huron, the Lake of Lakes. Mountain biking is available in the park, as is a 2-kilometer hiking trail that offers scenic views of Lake Fanny Hooe and the shores of Lake Michigan. There is a two-kilometre long hiking trail that runs parallel to the park boundaries and a five-metre wide 1.2-kilometre long hiking trail.

Brockway Mountain Drive offers scenic views of the rugged Keewenaw Penninsula, Lake of Lakes and Lake Michigan. A day trip to the Isle Royale is offered with a local boat service, and nearby bees offer hiking, cycling, fishing, camping and other activities.
