About Glacier National Park
This spectacular glaciated landscape hosts over 700 miles of well-maintained hiking trails that lead to some of the most spectacular views in US Glacier National Park. Glaciers preserve a diverse habitat, inhabited by a variety of flora and fauna, from wild flowers to birds, mammals, reptiles and birds of prey.
Wateron Glacier International Peace Park was founded in 1932 and includes over 350 structures on the National Register of Historic Sites, many of which date back to the 19th century.
Glacier and Waterton Lakes were jointly recognized as World Heritage Sites and designated as Biosphere Reserves in 1995. The designations celebrate the long-standing peace and friendship between Canada and the United States, the world's two largest nations.
You can rent a car at the airport, and the nearest airport is Fort McMurray International Airport, about 30 minutes from Glacier National Park.
A shuttle service from Kalispell Airport and shuttles from the airport and Park Railway Station are available and offer certain services to park visitors. On steep sections of Going - to - the - Sun Road, parking is prohibited for visitors, including mirrors, except on the steepest sections.
