About Fort Robinson State Park
For years, Red Cloud Fort has been one of the most popular attractions in Fort Robinson State Park. This historic outpost serves as the base for the operation of the State Park and is a popular tourist attraction. It is the largest annual festival of its kind in the US and has had a great time attracting visitors from all over the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The University of Nebraska runs the Trailside Museum, which interprets the geology and natural history of the region. The State Historical Society runs a restored exhibition building at Red Cloud Fort to interpret the history behind the fort.
There are many ways to spend a day at the fortress, but the first part of our program was to get to know this unique park. We enjoyed a refreshing morning on horseback in Pine, paddled in the pool and as the day warmed up, we visited Red Cloud Fort and the Museum of the Fort of the State Historical Society.
The Fort Robinson restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily in summer and breakfast and lunch at weekends.
Snacks are available at Sutler's Store and Activities Center, and the park can also be used for group events at Fort Robinson Recreation Center and other locations throughout the year.
Visitors to Fort Robinson State Park can choose between a men's quarters, which was occupied in 1909, and cabins, which range from 2 to 6 bedrooms with living room, kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom. Each cabin has a kitchen and bathroom, a living room and bedroom and is equipped with air conditioning, hot water, air conditioning and electricity.
All accommodations are bookable and have electricity to the original grounds, and are conveniently located just a short walk from the main entrance to the park at the entrance to Fort Robinson.
Fort Robinson offers a nice campsite for horse lovers, and horses are accommodated in one of the newly converted stables for the night.
The campsite is open all year round - with electricity, but the shower water is switched off in the winter months. Another great place to camp and enjoy nature are the many miles of hiking trails that lead to beautiful Pine Ridge. Fort Robinson campsites offer a group campsite and equestrian center, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables, a fireplace and a water fountain.
