About Kershaw-Ryan State Park
Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park offers a variety of different areas that visitors can enjoy, such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hiking and more.
Sand Harbor is one of the most popular locations in the Incline Village area of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Situated between the village and the sandy harbour, this area offers secluded access to a variety of hiking, biking, fishing, camping and more. There are a number of different hiking and camping sites in the area, such as the Great Lakes Trail, Sand Beach Trail and Silver Lake Trail.
The hinterland between Lake Tahoe and Carson City offers a variety of hiking, biking, fishing and camping opportunities, as well as a number of rental cabins. Spooner Lake is also a hiking trail that provides access to the indoor areas, and the use of this area for groups is available as a fountain or as a rental cabin. Vehicles are not allowed into the hinterland, as they are designated as state primitive areas.
Cave Rock, located between US 50 and Zephyr Cove, is a popular spot for boating and fishing. In July and August, guests can enjoy the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival in Sand Harbor. Two of the more popular hiking trails in the area are the Silver Lake Trail and the South Shore Trail, as well as the State Park Trail.
The gently sloping beach with its deep waters is ideal for swimming and diving, as well as the picturesque views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada.
Hidden Beach is located two miles north of Sand Harbor and is popular with local sunbathers and swimmers. Hidden Beach has no parking and roadside parking is very limited, but the Beach Patrol is on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
The facility is operated by the Natural Resources Division of Lake Tahoe State Park (DNR) and California State Parks (CSP).
The start includes a double wave-protected ramp, and the parking lot is full on summer weekends and early in the week.
Lake Spoonbill is a catch - only fisheries where trout are caught annually. Swimming is only recommended in the spring and summer months and only for people with high swimming abilities.
The extended picnic area is dotted with Jeffrey pines and silver firs shading the steep slopes of Spooner Lake. The covered area has a large barbecue, is equipped with electricity and water and can accommodate groups up to 100 people. The Sand Point Nature Trail is located on the edge of the lake and offers breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as the lake itself.
Use of this area is subject to change and is reserved for members of the Tahoe State Park Board of Directors.
Ospreys, waterfowl and other wildlife are abundant, as are meadows and wildflowers. Information provided by the Board of Directors shall not be construed as an endorsement by the Board of Directors of Tahoe State Park or any other member of the public.
The park's hinterland covers 13,000 hectares in Carson Range and stretches north from Spooner Lake to Incline Village and north to Hobart Lake. Hiking and primitive camping are possible, and some of the most popular inland activities include hiking along the scenic Tahoe Rim Trail, which offers spectacular views of the lake and valley.
