Wellesley Island State Park has a long history as one of the most popular tourist destinations in New York State. It is only accessible on foot or by boat and there were a number of special events, such as the annual New Year's Eve fireworks and Christmas tree lighting.

For the less rugged campers, Wellesley Island State Park has 12 apartments, including 12 apartments that allow you to enjoy the sunset from the veranda of your fully equipped vacation home. The apartments are available for $1,000 per month or $2,500 per year and you can choose from a variety of amenities such as kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, kitchenette, dining room and even a bathroom.

Fishing is excellent, which is best done in Wellesley Island State Park and other national parks in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The park has a marina with four berths for boaters, and the sandy beaches along the river provide great opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. One of the park's main attractions is the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, which includes a wooded wetland. The island is a popular destination for hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking and other outdoor activities.

The Nature Centre offers educational and recreational programmes for all ages, and a special feature of the Nature Centre is its extensive collection of animal and plant species, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds of prey, fish and reptiles. Archery and muzzle loading are only permitted in designated areas with authorisation.
