About Croatan National Forest
The Pocosins, or as they are called in the marshes, the "bogs," are therefore the most important part of the Croatian national forest, one of the oldest and largest in the world.
The forest is bounded on three sides by tidal rivers and the Bogue Sound and is defined by water, covering a total area of about 2,000 square kilometers.
Canoeing and fishing are popular in the Blackwater Brook and salt marshes, and the water offers a variety of other recreational activities including fishing, canoeing, kayaking and rafting. Croatian is also home to the Croatian National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest national parks in the world.
The Croatian National Forest has a ranger district, the Croatian Ranger District, which has its headquarters in Zagreb. The Croatian regional office is located in the city of Vojvodina, the capital of Croatia and the second largest city in Croatia.
