About Starvation Creek State Park
Located at the foot of the steep walls of Columbia Gorge, Starvation Creek is much more than it seems; it's a feast for the eyes and the feet. Zoom east on Interstate 84 and you may miss this tiny park, but it is located in Columbia River Gorge and is open to the public. After the rehabilitation of an aging and failing water system, Hungvation Bach was reopened as a state park with a new sewage treatment plant and is a feast for the eyes and the feet.
The park is used for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and other outdoor activities, as well as a variety of other activities. The trails, which will widen during the day, connect with the trails on Defiance and Hungvation Ridge. Go east to the footpath at the foot of the park and walk a few kilometres west on the east side of Mt Trott.
Road improvement, including paving, is already underway, and the path, designed as part of a $1.5 million National Park Service project, is open in its teeth. It is an elegant waterfall that has been admired by canyon travelers for thousands of years.
