About Port Orford Cedar State Park
The Port Orford lifeboat station was built by the Coast Guard in the 1970s to rescue the southern part of the Oregon coast. The station is now housed in a museum of the Point Orford Heritage Society and houses a number of historical artifacts and artefacts.
A 36-foot motor lifeboat that was deployed to the station is awaiting recovery. The museum is free and open, but of course donations and a number of other items from the museum's collection are accepted.
There is a large population of black-tailed deer, but as they are wild animals, they should be treated with caution. The park has a number of hiking trails and a headland that offers spectacular views of the Pacific coast.
