About Chapman State Park
Chapman is an oasis of recreation in a vast wilderness, and the 805-acre Chapman State Park includes more than 2,000 acres of open space and a variety of trails, paths and trails.
From 1929 to 1963, Dr. Chapman headed the University of California, Davis, and the California Institute of Technology (UC Davis) in Berkeley.
In 1949, the first land for the park was acquired and Chapman State Park opened in 1951. Many community groups were instrumental in the creation of this popular national park. The dam was built on the old earth dam at the Bucher Mühlenstammteich, which dates back to the time of his mill, which was built in 1849.
The beautiful forest and campsites were shaded by hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, campers and hikers from all over the United States and Canada.
All areas are open during the summer months, but access in winter cannot be guaranteed and you should check the conditions by calling the park office.
Children aged nine and over must be accompanied by a responsible person unless otherwise stated. All sandy beaches are open from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends and holidays, except in the summer months. A lifeguard is always on duty, except when he or she is not in action. Please read the swimming rules and follow them.
All beach areas are under the control of Bollinger Enterprises, which operates the concession stand. The Inc. concession offers a wide range of food and beverages, as well as water and picnic options.
Canoes, pedal boats and kayaks are available day and night, as well as a variety of kayak and pedal boat rentals in the park.
On the west side of Chapman Lake (68 hectares) there are more than 1,000 hectares of open water for registered campers. Boat rentals and concessions are available in the beach area, and all motor boats must have a state registration. All non-motorized boats must have one of the following boat registrations from each state: (1) California, (2) Florida or (3) Hawaii.
The picnic area is located directly on the beach and overlooks the lake. Four picnic pavilions can be reserved for up to 11 months against advance payment. The picnic pavilion is the first to be served and is open to the public on weekends and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Free parking is available in the park for those who prefer to park their vehicles, but not all parks are preferred. In addition to the trails in this park, Chapman has a number of hiking trails, as well as a variety of picnic areas and picnic pavilions. Some trails are open for bicycles, although most of the route is not accessible by bike. For map and hiking information, contact the park office or Chapman State Park Office for more information on trails and parking.
Environmental interpreters offer guided hikes and are free during the summer season. The park is located on the south side of Chapman State Park, north of the intersection of Interstate 5 and Interstate 80.
