About Trough Creek State Park
Creek State Park is a picturesque canyon formed when Great Trough Creek flows through Terrace Mountain into Raystown Lake and when it flows down Ter Race Mountain. The rugged trails lead to the wonders of Balanced Rock and Rainbow Falls, as well as a variety of waterfalls and other natural attractions. Creek State Park, together with the adjacent Great River State Forest, forms a large contiguous public recreation area.
The renovated two-story stone villa can be rented year-round, and the cabin house, originally built in the mid-19th century, offers beautiful views of Terraced Mountain and Great Trough Creek, as well as the Great River.
The lodge is located on a hill overlooking the Paradise Oven and has a spacious veranda and a courtyard that is also accessible to people with disabilities. The cozy campsite has an outdoor fireplace, picnic table, fireplace and picnic tables, as well as a picnic area. Each pitch has access to the Great River, Great Trough Creek, Terrace Mountain and Great Lake, along with a view of the creek.
The sanitary landfill is next to the park office and the campsite is open daily from June to October from 9 am to 5 pm. The campsites are also open from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and from 5 pm to 9 pm on weekends.
The five picnic areas in the park offer a variety of picturesque table locations and can be reserved for up to 11 months against advance payment. Unreserved picnic pavilions are available from June to October on weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm and on weekends from 5 pm to 9 pm. A fourth, smaller picnic pavilion is available daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. from July to September, based on the first-come-first server.
Picnic areas are located on the east and west sides of the park near the entrance to the Rothrock State Forest. The park serves as a signpost for the paths of the Rothrocks State Forest and as an access point for hikers and walkers - vehicles only.
Parking and toilets are available in the park, and snowmobile tickets are available at the park office. The park is located on the east side of the Rothrocks State Forest, north of Rothrock Road. Pathbe the 349 hectares of park used to create the peninsula, with a total area of 1.5 million square meters of open space.
Picnics by the river, fishing and hiking are popular leisure activities, and there are 13 public areas where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, canoeing, snowmobiling, kayaking, mountain biking and snowshoeing. The largest recreation area managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers covers 29,300 hectares, of which 2.5 million square metres are open space and 1,500 hectares are forest. The forest areas, covering a total area of 2,000 hectares, offer a wide range of leisure activities, from hiking and camping to fishing, camping and fishing. The park has a large number of public recreational areas, including hiking trails, snowmobiling trails, ski and mountain biking trails, and public picnic areas.
You can reach the park by driving 10 miles south of Huntingdon on PA 26 and then north on PA-26 to the parking lot of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
