About Keowee Toxaway State Park

This 1,000 hectare park offers a variety of hiking, camping, fishing and hiking trails, as well as a museum. The museum tells the story of the Cherokee Indians who once roamed the area and their history. Along the streams in the park you can find a great variety of wildlife such as birds, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals.

In the centre there is also a gift shop with limited souvenirs such as books and other items. The park's museum includes a variety of artifacts from Keowee County and Cherokee Indian history, as well as the museum itself. Large cabins in the wooded area have verandas overlooking Lake Keowsee and a floating jetty for fishing on the lake. Other facilities include a campsite with picnic area, picnic tables, a swimming pool and picnic table, and an amphitheater.

The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm and also on weekdays from 10 am to 10 pm. Opening hours: The museum is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends.
