About Manchester State Forest
The soil is slightly sandy, interspersed with marshes and bays and consists of a mixture of clay, sand, peat and sandstone, with a mixture of grasses, shrubs, trees and bushes.
The pines planted in the 1960s were gradually harvested and replaced by the left-sided pines. The forest is cultivated to produce a variety of tree species, grasses, shrubs and shrubs, as well as a large number of wild flowers and birds.
In 1989, Hurricane Hugo severely damaged the forest and 65 wooden plinths were destroyed, but hundreds of hectares of land have since been saved and replanted.
Manchester State Forest has been used for various purposes in the United States and around the world for over 100 years. This includes improving the quality of life of the local population and the health of the local economy.
Sustainable yields mean that renewable resources in forests will always be available without affecting soil productivity. This does not mean that all uses must exist simultaneously, but depending on the circumstances in different parts of a forest, one use may prevail while the other uses are subordinate. Sumter County pays for the use of the Manchester State Forest by the local school district and the state of South Carolina.
