About Eisenhower State Park
Eisenhower State Park is located on the east side of Eisenhower Drive in the city of Washington, D.C., USA. In 1954 it acquired a lease from the Ministry of Defence, which ran until 2004 and was opened to the public in 1958.
During the growing season, a variety of colourful wildflowers bloom from March to November.
Grassy plateaus, including the rare remains of a high grassy prairie, end up on rocky and steep slopes in the forest. Nature guides are available to mark trees and paths, and in selected areas several wildflowers are marked on road signs.
The most diverse trees include pines, oaks, birches, maples, pines, oaks, eucalyptus, elms, firs, hazelnuts, hickory, spruce and elk.
Lake fishing offers a variety of perches, sunfish and catfish, and the lake's fossils are exhibited at the park's headquarters. The various mammals in the parks include elk, deer, elk, coyote, bear, wolf, fox, pheasant, raccoon, owl, otter, squirrel, bird and bat. In some areas, birds of prey such as birds, bats, reptiles and amphibians, as well as mammals can be observed.
The area became increasingly important to Anglo-Saxon settlers, and the park is named after a bear in the vicinity. Another contribution to the area's history is Fort Johnson, founded in the 1840s, and the Colbert Crossing, established in 1853 on the Red River and in operation since 1931.
The park houses a privately operated marina, the Eisenow Marina, and nearby there is a campground where campers can book free tours, as well as 11,300 hectares of land and water known as a haven for migratory and wintering waterfowl. The marinas also have access to the Red River and the East River, two of the state's largest rivers. It has a total area of 2,000 acres, or about 3,500 square miles, with a population of about 1,200 people.
Current weather conditions, including fire bans and water levels, may vary from day to day, and tent fees may vary. For more information, contact Eisenow State Park Public Information Center at (866) 888-5555 or EISENHOWER _ STATE _ PARK for information on camping permits.
