Birch Bay State Park is one of the largest and most popular parks in the United States and is rich in archaeological significance. The park offers a variety of scenic views of Birch Bay and its surroundings, as well as a number of hiking trails and trails.

Terrell Creek Marsh is one of the last saltwater and freshwater estuaries in the United States. The park had a significant impact on the ecology of Birch Bay and its surroundings and on the local economy.

At the northern end of the park is a natural wilderness reserve, open all year round for tents and day use, but closed in winter.

Birch Bay was named after the many black birches by botanist Archibald Menzies and was founded in 1792 by his friend and explorer Sir John Franklin on an expedition to Vancouver.

Archaeological evidence suggests that the bay was inhabited by tribes such as Semiahmoo, Lummi and Nooksack in prehistoric times. Large old tree stumps and diving boards are still visible, and the huge firs in the area have been cut down and cut back again.

Reservations for summer camping are accepted, but all campsites are subject to availability and the maximum length of a site is 60 feet, possibly due to limited availability. The park has a wide range of wooded campsites, from small to large, and all have covered picnic tables or are open to the public.

There are two types of camping, one for single family and two for group camping, as well as a small number of small, covered outdoor picnic tables.

Located on the south side of the park, at the intersection of I-5 and Interstate 5. Take Exit 266 from I / 5 south, take Exit 266 from I-5 and then exit 267 for the hotel.

Take Exit 266 North from I-5, turn right at Grandview, leave Helweg and turn left at Grand Viewings for 7 miles.
