About Brule River State Forest
The State Forest of Brule was founded in 1907 by Friedrich Weyerhauser and his wife Mary and their son. Frederick Jr. The border forest now covers 41,000 acres owned by the state. In 1907, Mr. Wynne donated 4320 acres to the state of Wisconsin for forestry. Frederick Weyersha is a user of his family's home in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Brule River is home to brook, brook and rainbow trout, and the river itself has two different personalities. Bois de Brue is one of the most popular trout streams in the state of Wisconsin and has been known as an exceptional trout stream for over a hundred years.
The upper part of the southern river flows through miles of coniferous bogs and is fed by numerous springs. The steep river slopes are covered with aspen and balsa trees, and here flashing cascades tumble over rocks and rocky outcrops. When it crosses the copper chain, it starts as a tributary of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in Wisconsin.
The state forest is used as a recreational area for hikers, mountain bikers, campers and other visitors to the national park.
Most public areas within the forest boundaries are open for hunting and fishing in all seasons.
The forest offers many different landscapes that allow a wide range of activities such as hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, hunting and hiking.
