About Boysen State Park

Boysen State Park is one of the largest in the United States and the second largest in North America. The park has one lake, Lake Boysen, and two other lakes, Wind River Canyon and Lake Okeechobee, which is now part of Boyson Lake, a state park in upstate New York.

There are various water sports on offer, and there are daily camping opportunities, as well as camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating, canoeing, rafting and other recreational activities.

Several state record fish were caught in the reservoir, and interesting geological formations have their own history in the area.

The Brannon water system is closed, but it is open in the summer months during the spring and autumn months and in the winter months. It is also closed in winter and spring, except on a few days in summer and early autumn.

This was the site of the original Boysen Dam, located south of the Brannon Water System on the north side of Boysen State Park.

There is one group room that can be reserved for special purposes and there are 24 reserved rooms. There is also a local Big Horn Sheep herd in Boysen State Park, as well as a small flock of goats and sheep.

The campsite is located just behind the dam next to the Wind River and there are several shady trees and lots of grass. It has several levels and has 10 reserved places, and it has a picnic area, picnic tables, a fireplace and a picnic table, as well as a water fountain.

Several interesting geological features are located nearby, and large croissants and sheep are often seen near the dam, as well as a large pond and a stream.

The campsites are located at the northern end of the reservoir and a commercial concession offers visitors a full marina service. There is a boat start, but in Boys State Park there are no boat starts due to the high cost of boat rental and lack of parking space.

Tough Creek is located on the peninsula and has several levels, and there is a sheltered bay where boats can dock. There has been a long history of problems with flooding, but it was not tolerated.
