Mr Seymour wanted to restore the Hale estate he bought in 1914, when most of the land had been cleared and grazed by sheep and cattle since Hale's childhood, and his family home. The original purchase of 850 hectares has grown to about 1,500 hectares, but his first purchase for the forest was a 1.5 hectare plot on the south-west side of Hale Road.

But when the land turned into forest faster than he could clear it, he realized how hopeless the idea was. Two of his forest friends may have prompted him to devote himself to forest and wildlife management.

In the 1930s, Mr. Seymour began planting conifers on the land, a practice that continued until the 1950s, when the land was state-owned.

Seymour also had an interesting way of marking his boundaries: he planted hemlock and white cedars. These trees are still visible in the park and in some other parts of the state park.

Today, the goal of the DEP foresters is to preserve the natural beauty of the National Park and its biodiversity. The field is kept in grass and shrub condition to harbor a variety of wildlife, and studies are being conducted to restore the American chestnut. On state-acquired land plantations have been planted, pruned, thinned out and thinned out, but the wildlife is abundant and often visible and audible. The City of Coventry has leased 57 hectares of woodland as a city park and a 200 hectare nature reserve has been established and managed under management. In addition to the managed forest, a forest is also managed in the city parks, with the help of local residents and businesses.
