About Haddam Meadows State Park

Overlooking the scenic Connecticut River, Haddam Meadows State Park offers boats, fishing and picnics. During the colonial era, the vast floodplain, now called H Addams Meadows State Park, played an important role in the agricultural economy of the region. The meadows were used as common pasture for cattle farmers in Hadadam for harvesting, and the spring flood banks along the Connecticut River were fertilized to yield abundant hay and grain.

In the last century, the meadows on the canal side of the river were an important shipping route for the Connecticut River and its tributaries.

River steamers brought cargo to New York and returned loaded with products like firewood and gin, and later railroads turned the meadows into a thriving business that brought people from Saybrook to Hartford.

Several local train stations were located within the boundaries of what is now the park, and the park was created as a result of a partnership between Connecticut's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Connecticut State Parks.

Haddam Meadows State Park is on the left and you can turn left off Route 154 into the park from Exit 20 of Route 9. Turn left at exit 20 onto Route 8 and follow Route 154 until you turn left at exit 19 and turn right onto exit 19, then right onto exit 21 and exit 22.

Haddam Meadows State Park is on the right and you can turn left off Route 154 into the park from Exit 20 of Route 9. Take I-95 South, turn right onto Exit 7 onto Route 82, then take the Exit 69 South and follow Route 154 until you turn left at Exit 22 and turn west to Exit 21 and then right to Exit 21.

East of I-395, take Exit 80 onto Route 82 and follow Route 82 to the drawbridge and turn right onto Route 154, and State Park is on the right.

East of I-395, take Exit 10 onto Route 154 and follow Route 91 North to Route 691, turn right onto the drawbridge and State Park.

Haddam Meadows State Park is on the left, follow Route 154 to Route 91 North, turn right on Route 691 and turn left on the drawbridge and State Park.
